Joseph Calvin "Joe" Goebert of Atkinson passed away on July 24, 2024, at the age of 99 (born December 20, 1924).

Served as a radioman and gunner in the U.S. Navy during World War II, flying Grumman Avenger aircraft from the U.S.S. Randolph in the Pacific Theater.

Worked for the U.S. Postal Service at post offices in Atkinson and Rock Island, serving as postmaster of Atkinson from 1972 until his retirement in 1990.

Active member of St. Anthony Church, Atkinson Kiwanis Club, Atkinson American Legion, and Henry County Forty and Eight.

Survived by his wife Mary Lou (married 68 years), two children, four grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter; Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his family and loved ones.
