Roger Gerald "Jerry" Belt of Morris passed away on August 9, 2024, at age 88.

Served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960, including service in South Korea near Incheon Harbor, and received honorable discharge from Fort Lewis, Washington.

Worked as a sheet metal worker at R.L. Lyon Heating and Cooling (starting 1965) and as foreman of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 265 at Braidwood Nuclear Power Station (1985-1994).

Performed as a drummer in The Jerry Belt Combo with his wife Delight for over 30 years, playing Dixieland and Big Band music at local venues and donating performances to nursing homes and nonprofit fundraising events.

Active member of the American Federation of Musicians (1970s-2015) and past commander of John Martin Steele Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6049 in Morris.
