Congratulates Kennedy Blades on winning the silver medal in women's wrestling freestyle 76-kilogram event at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France on August 11, 2024.

Kennedy Blades is a resident of Garfield Ridge and University of Iowa student whose mother, Sergeant Cindy Ramos, serves in the Chicago Police Department's 7th District.

Qualified for the 2024 Olympics by defeating six-time world champion and 2020 Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Adeline Gray at the U.S. Olympic Wrestling Trials in April 2024.

Her achievement made the United States the only country besides Japan to win more than one Olympic gold medal in women's wrestling since the event was added to the Summer Games in 2004.

Kennedy Blades was selected as grand marshal of the annual Halloween Pumpkin Jamboree Parade on Archer Avenue in Chicago on October 26, 2024.
