Sandra Jean Booker passed away on August 13, 2024; she was born August 19, 1960, in Coatopa, Alabama to Judge A. Booker and Wynona (Bea) Williams-Booker.

Earned her CNA license in October 1983 and worked in healthcare for over 30 years, including as a CNA at Winchester House, medical assistant at Chicago Medical School (now Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine), and at Lake County Health Department from 1991 to 2013.

Volunteered as an adult probation officer for Lake County for over 20 years and mentored young teenagers through My Father's Business; remained active in the Lake County Sarcoidosis Support Group.

Joined First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church in 1970, served on the Junior Usher Board, and taught preschool-kindergarten Sunday school until 2012 before joining Way Through the Word Ministry in 2013.

The Illinois Senate mourns her passing and extends condolences to her surviving father, children (Natisha Booker and Samuel D.A. Gray), daughter of love Adrienne Simmons, multiple siblings, and extended family and friends.
