Illinois Senate expresses condolences on the death of David Wesley "Dave" Combs of Taylorville, who died on August 18, 2024.

Combs was born April 1, 1937 in Hillsboro, served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959 including over two years in Korea, and graduated from Hillsboro High School and the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin.

Combs worked 54 years at First National Bank in Taylorville, serving as president and CEO for 25 years, and served as director on boards of First Bancorp and West Main Realty Group for 43 years.

Combs was a founding member and 1983-1984 president of the Independent Community Banks in Illinois (now Community Bankers Association of Illinois) and was a lifetime VFW member serving 40 years as honor guard commander.

Combs is survived by three children, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; he was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sally, and three siblings.
