Illinois Senate mourns the death of former Assistant U.S. Attorney and Illinois Attorney General Tyrone C. Fahner, who passed away on September 16, 2024.

Fahner served as Attorney General of Illinois from 1980 to 1983, as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, and as Director of the Illinois Department of Law Enforcement.

Led a 200-member task force investigating the 1982 Tylenol cyanide poisoning deaths of seven Chicago-area residents and headed the federal corruption section as an assistant prosecutor.

Served as co-chair and later chairman of the prestigious Chicago law firm Mayer Brown LLP from 1985 to 2007, and held board or committee positions at the Shedd Aquarium, Lurie Children's Hospital, and University of Michigan.

Senate extends condolences to his surviving family: wife Anne Marie (married 58 years), three children, eight grandchildren, two brothers, and extended family members.
