Janice E. Curry passed away on September 7, 2024, and the Illinois Senate expresses condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Curry was born in Maywood on June 20, 1948, graduated from Proviso East High School in 1966, and studied pre-law at Northwestern Business College.

Curry worked as an executive assistant at International Harvester and Commonwealth Edison, and volunteered with the Proviso Leyden Council for Community Action.

Curry was a devoted member of James Memorial AME Church for 44 years, served in the sanctuary choir, and published a book titled "A Miracle in the Midst" about her faith journey.

Curry is survived by three children, one sister, 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members and friends.
