Dorothy Kathryn Engholdt Bertschy of Peoria passed away on September 13, 2024, at age 96 after being born June 9, 1928 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

She graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1950, obtained piano teaching certification from Sherwood Music School in Chicago, and completed graduate study at Bradley University.

She taught in South Holland School District 150 and gave private piano lessons; was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church since 1956 and helped found the school's fine arts program.

She served as president of the Amateur Musical Club (1981-1987), chairwoman of Lakeview Museum Docents, president of the Fine Arts Society (1987-1989), and on numerous boards including the American Association of University Women and Peoria Arts and Sciences Council.

She received the Julia Proctor White Arts Achievement Award in 1993 and is survived by three sons (Timothy, Nicholas, and Christopher) and seven grandchildren.
