Michael J. "Mike" Steger of Milan passed away on September 16, 2024, and the Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his family and loved ones.

Steger was born June 13, 1954, in Rock Island to Valentine and Dorothy Gibbons Steger; he served in the U.S. Air Force and married Patricia Beckman on March 12, 1983.

He was a member of Ironworkers Local 111 and enjoyed adventurous activities including drag racing, skydiving, and backyard demolition derbies.

Steger is survived by four children (Christy, Christopher, Heidi, and Holli), 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three siblings.

He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, his parents, his daughter Angel, and three siblings (Fred, Rick, and LaVaun).
