Senate Resolution mourning the death of John W. Sheppard of Pittsfield, who passed away on October 15, 2024

Sheppard was born September 12, 1931, served in the U.S. Army as a radar technician in Greenland from 1954 to 1956, and worked as a livestock farmer until age 91

Formed the Bay Creek Watershed Board in 1973 and served on it for 50 years; served on the Pike County Board from 1978 to 2000 and as its chair for several years

Served as last president of the Pike and Louisiana Railroad, received Volunteer of the Year from Pike County Chamber of Commerce, and was inducted into Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame in 2009 with his first wife, Karolyn

Survived by his wife Carlene, five sons, three daughters, 13 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren
