Alice Margaret McCart of Oak Park died on April 26, 2024 at age 77.

McCart earned double Bachelors of Arts in German and French from the University of Kansas in 1969, plus a Master of Arts in Teaching and German in 1971 and a master's degree in journalism in 1983.

McCart worked as a translator and production editor at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, later earned a Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1993, and became a leading expert in HIPAA compliance and healthcare privacy law.

McCart was the managing editor for the Healthcare Financial Management Association, American Health Lawyers Association, and American Corporate Counsel Association publications.

The Illinois Senate expresses condolences to her surviving children Elizabeth, Mark, and Maggie; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
