Barbara Ann (Fox) Vanek passed away on June 6, 2024; she was born July 14, 1943 in Seymour, Indiana to Harry and Alice Fox.

Graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in 1965 and served two years as a Catholic extension volunteer in Guymon, Oklahoma before moving to Chicago.

Married Wayne Vanek on December 10, 1972 at Childerley Chapel in Wheeling and became active in St. Catherine-St. Lucy Church in Oak Park, where she led the children's choir.

Worked at Longfellow School as secretary and at RUSH Medical Center, eventually becoming chief administrator of the Office of Research Compliance; served 18 years on the board of PCC Community Wellness Center.

Survived by husband Wayne, three sons (Nathan, Ray, and Seth), three daughters-in-law (Allison Vanek, Hillary Stone, and Saunia Powell), and two grandchildren (Alex and Sasha Vanek); the Senate extends condolences to her family and loved ones.
