Advises customers to call their utility company directly to verify account status if they receive suspicious calls, in-person visits, or online contacts threatening service disconnection.

Warns that legitimate utilities never demand payment via pre-paid debit cards, gift cards, cryptocurrencies, or third-party digital payment apps, and always provide multiple notices before service interruptions.

Directs victims of utility scams or those threatened by scammers to contact their local utility company, law enforcement, or the Federal Trade Commission for assistance.

Supports Utilities United Against Scams (UUAS) awareness campaign to educate customers about scammer tactics, particularly during the holiday season when fraudulent activity increases.
