John Steven "Steve" Kimbro of Nokomis passed away on November 17, 2024; he was born June 27, 1955, in Hillsboro to John Robert and Marian Louise (Worker) Kimbro.

Served as a teacher and basketball coach at Nokomis High School for 39 seasons before retiring in 2020, compiling 838 wins and 308 losses to rank fifth all-time in Illinois high school basketball coaching wins.

Led four teams to the state tournament with second-place finishes in 1983, 1997, and 2008, and a third-place finish in 2013.

Inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2003 and also taught woodworking and building trades.

Survived by his wife Susan (married September 1, 1979), daughter Casey, sons Wade and Lucas, grandchildren Kaylee and Claire, mother Marian, and brothers Jim, Bryan, and Jeff.
