Matthew R. "Matt" Verde died on November 24, 2024; he was born in Melrose Park on September 5, 1975.

Verde graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Elmhurst in 1993 and served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps, including deployments to Japan and Russia.

Verde pursued a career in the restaurant industry, working at Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery, The Capital Grille, and U.S. Foods before opening Neat Kitchen & Bar in Westmont and a second location in Oswego.

Verde was married to Jennifer Verde as of April 24, 2009, and was the father of two children, Austin and Savannah.

The Illinois Senate expresses condolences to Verde's family and friends, recognizing his community contributions through fundraisers and donations in Westmont and Oswego.
