Kiran A. Desai of Springfield died on November 28, 2024; he was born September 27, 1948 in Ahmedabad, India to Amritlal Jethalal Desai and Jaya Prabhudas Gandhi.

Served as a technical assistance team manager for the Illinois State Board of Education for 28 years before retiring.

Served as president of the Springfield Chapter of the American Red Cross, Gujarati Samaj of Greater Springfield, and India Association of Greater Springfield; was also a board member of the Hindu Temple of Greater Springfield.

Volunteered with the Illinois Innocence Project, Friend-in-Deed, and the Asian American Bone Marrow Foundation.

Illinois Senate extends condolences to his surviving wife Kalpana Fozdar, sons Kaushal (Robin) Desai and Krupal Desai, grandson Kai Desai, three brothers, three sisters, and extended family.
