Requires Illinois public universities, community colleges, and institutions receiving state student assistance funds to adopt policies by June 1, 2027 for awarding academic credit for firefighter training applicable to certificate or degree programs

Applies to both career and volunteer firefighters who have completed training courses recommended for credit by a national higher education association or otherwise documented firefighting training/experience

Mandates institutions develop procedures to verify firefighting training documentation and provide their credit policy to any applicant who indicates prior or present firefighting service on their admission application

Requires institutions to maintain a list of firefighting training courses and programs that qualify for academic credit

Institutions must submit their firefighter training credit policies to the Board of Higher Education and Illinois Community College Board by March 31, 2027, and annually by March 31 thereafter
