IL HB1271

Requires the Office of the State Fire Marshal, beginning July 1, 2026, to annually determine funding needs for the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) to improve emergency response coordination for tornado disasters at large warehouse complexes

Defines "large warehouse complex" as one or more warehouses at the same location with at least 400,000 square feet of combined space operating under the same management

Mandates the Office to establish a funding distribution formula by July 1, 2026, based on tornado risk, total warehouse square footage, and worker population during all working hours

Creates a continuing appropriation from the General Revenue Fund to the Office of the State Fire Marshal for MABAS maintenance, operation, and capital expenses

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law, with implementing rules required before July 1, 2026
