IL HB1358

Amends the School Code to require school districts, joint agreements, and regional superintendents to publish public hearing notices for waiver requests on social media accounts at least 7 days prior to hearings, rather than in newspapers of general circulation (newspaper publication only required if no social media account exists)

Removes the requirement to notify State legislators representing the eligible applicant's territory of intent to seek a waiver or modification

Changes waiver approval process so that if the General Assembly fails to take action on a waiver request that was disapproved or appealed within 60 days, the waiver is deemed denied rather than granted

Limits approved waivers to no more than 2 renewal periods and prohibits changes to approved waivers during their term; waivers for physical education mandates are limited to 3 school years with no renewals allowed

Requires applicants to provide verification of public hearing notice publication, including screenshots with date, time, and URL for website postings, or newspaper copies/certificates of publication
