IL HB1433

Creates the Educational Credit for Election Judges Act, allowing Illinois public universities and community colleges to adopt policies awarding academic credit or non-credit alternatives to students who serve as election judges while enrolled

Applies to all nine Illinois public universities (University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State, Eastern Illinois, Governors State, Illinois State, Northeastern Illinois, Northern Illinois, Western Illinois), public community colleges, and institutions receiving funds under the Higher Education Student Assistance Act

Prohibits election judges who receive academic credit from also receiving monetary compensation under the Election Code, requiring students to choose between credit or pay

Amends Section 13-10 of the Election Code to implement the restriction on dual compensation for student election judges

Gives institutions discretion on whether to adopt such policies rather than mandating participation
