Creates the Temporary Firearm Storage Act, requiring all law enforcement agencies in Illinois, including Illinois State Police at each troop headquarters, to establish temporary firearm storage programs for gun owners who voluntarily wish to store their firearms outside their homes

Firearm owners must complete a storage agreement specifying the storage duration and acknowledging that unclaimed firearms will be turned over to the storage entity; agencies must notify owners before agreements expire and cannot limit the number of times an owner may renew storage agreements

Licensed firearms dealers with a Federal Firearms License and Illinois State Police certification may also establish voluntary temporary storage programs under the same application requirements

Law enforcement agencies cannot use stored firearms for any purpose without a warrant, and private entities storing firearms cannot use them for any purpose; all stored firearms must have a safe storage mechanism such as a firearm lock

Agencies with public websites must post program information including a contact phone number, digital application form, and program requirements; neither law enforcement nor private storage entities are liable for damage to stored firearms; effective one year after becoming law
