IL HB1603

Prohibits landlords from refusing to rent, denying housing, or imposing conditions on tenants based on dog breed in residential properties containing more than 3 units

Does not affect local government authority to enforce Animal Control Act provisions regarding dangerous or vicious dogs

Requires the Illinois Housing Development Authority to investigate violations upon request from affected tenants

Authorizes the Authority to file court actions seeking mandamus or injunction to stop violations in the county where the property is located

Applies to new leases and lease renewals or modifications entered into after the effective date of the Act
