IL HB1620

Adds amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) to the list of occupational diseases qualifying downstate firefighters for disability pension benefits, alongside heart disease, stroke, tuberculosis, and lung/respiratory diseases

Requires firefighters to have 5 or more years of creditable service and be found unable to perform duties due to ALS resulting from service as a firefighter to qualify

Occupational disease disability pension equals the greater of 65% of salary at the firefighter's rank or the retirement pension they would otherwise be eligible to receive

Pension is payable during the period of disability when the firefighter has no right to receive salary, with additional $20/month benefit for each dependent unmarried child under 18

Amends the State Mandates Act to exempt this mandate from state reimbursement requirements to local governments
