IL HB1698

Allows school districts to request an alternative polling place location if they demonstrate to the election authority that using the school would interfere with scheduled programming or pose a safety threat to staff or students

Requires election authorities and school districts to work cooperatively to find an alternative polling location when such concerns are raised

Mandates that if no mutually agreeable alternative is found, both parties must submit a report to the Board of County Commissioners including voter turnout data (early voters, vote-by-mail, election day percentages) and lists of previous and early polling places within reasonable distance

Authorizes the Board of County Commissioners to determine the final polling place location "as soon as practicable" after receiving the report to avoid delays

Amends Section 11-4.1 of the Election Code (10 ILCS 5/11-4.1), which currently requires school districts to make schools available as polling places upon request from election authorities
