Eliminates the reduction of survivor's benefits for families of downstate police officers and firefighters when the death resulted from a line-of-duty sickness, accident, injury, or cumulative effects of duty

Currently, survivor's benefits under the Illinois Pension Code are reduced when beneficiaries also receive workers' compensation payments for the same injury or disease

Applies to both the Downstate Police Article (Section 3-114.5) and Downstate Firefighter Article (Section 4-114.2) of the Illinois Pension Code

Amends the State Mandates Act to exempt this change from state reimbursement requirements, meaning local pension funds would bear any additional costs
