Named the Deputy Chief Pete Bendinelli PFAS PPE Act, amends the PFAS Reduction Act to regulate PFAS chemicals in firefighter protective gear

Beginning January 1, 2026, sellers of firefighting protective clothing containing PFAS must provide written notice to purchasers stating the clothing contains PFAS and explaining why the chemicals are added

Sellers and purchasers must retain copies of PFAS notices for at least 3 years and provide documentation to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency within 60 days upon request

Beginning January 1, 2027, prohibits the manufacture, sale, or distribution of firefighting personal protective clothing (jackets, pants, shoes, gloves, helmets) containing intentionally added PFAS chemicals

Beginning January 1, 2030, extends the PFAS prohibition to auxiliary firefighting equipment including self-contained breathing apparatuses, respiratory protection, hearing protection, communication devices, and fall protection products
