Illinois would join the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact, allowing audiologists and speech-language pathologists licensed in their home state to practice in other member states under a "compact privilege" without obtaining additional licenses

The compact becomes effective when enacted by 10 states and creates the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Compact Commission to administer the agreement, with each member state having two delegates on the commission

Practitioners must hold an active, unencumbered license in their home state, have no adverse actions in the previous 2 years, pass required background checks, and pay applicable fees to exercise compact privileges in remote states

The compact explicitly authorizes telehealth practice across member state lines and includes special provisions allowing active duty military personnel and their spouses to designate any state where they hold a license as their home state

The Department of Financial and Professional Regulation must revise its rules to conform with the compact and submit recommendations to the General Assembly on any necessary statutory changes
