Allows Cook County pension fund contributing employees to purchase creditable service for up to 48 months of active-duty military service, doubling the previous limit of 24 months (2 years)

Removes the previous requirement that military service must not have been dishonorably discharged and eliminates the restriction that payments must be made while still in county service

Requires employees to pay the Fund an amount representing employee contributions based on their rate of compensation after military service, plus interest at the effective rate from discharge date to payment date

Eliminates the prior forfeiture provision that required military service credit to be forfeited if an employee applied for or received an early retirement incentive under Section 9-134.2

Amends the State Mandates Act to exempt this requirement from state reimbursement to local governments
