IL HB2482

Amends the Chicago Police Article of the Illinois Pension Code to create a presumption of disability for police officers who apply for disability benefits and have been denied reinstatement by their employer due to physical or mental incapacity

Prohibits denial of disability benefits to eligible police officers unless the employer reinstates them or offers a limited-duty position

Entitles any police officer previously denied disability benefits without an offer of reinstatement or limited-duty position (after the Act's effective date) to receive disability benefits retroactively

Amends the State Mandates Act to exempt this requirement from state reimbursement to local governments

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law
