Health care professionals who provide maternal health care services must complete implicit bias awareness training that specifically includes training on potential maternal health risk factors for childbearing individuals from marginalized racial or ethnic groups with increased maternal mortality rates, effective July 1, 2026

Adds definitions for "maternal health care services" (prenatal or postnatal care), "postnatal care" (care within 12 months after giving birth), and "prenatal care" (as defined in the Maternal Mental Health Conditions Education, Early Diagnosis, and Treatment Act)

The enhanced training requirement applies to health care professionals who report to the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation that they provide maternal health care services when seeking license or registration renewal

The one-hour implicit bias awareness training continues to count toward minimum continuing education credit requirements and may be satisfied by training completed for other state licensure, professional accreditation, or institutional practice requirements
