IL HB2546

Amends the Unified Code of Corrections to allow eligible persons to file petitions for parole review either after serving the minimum term required for eligibility OR up to 3 years prior to becoming eligible, expanding the previous filing window

Requires the Prisoner Review Board to schedule hearings either 3 years from receipt of the petition or on the date the person becomes eligible for parole review, whichever is sooner

Establishes that hearings cannot be scheduled sooner than one year from the date the Board determines the petition is appropriately filed

Corrects a statutory cross-reference from subsection (c) to subsection (f) of Section 5-4.5-105 regarding sentencing provisions for persons subject to natural life imprisonment who become eligible for parole review after serving 40 years
