Manufacturers of electronic products and major home appliances priced $50-$100 must provide repair documentation, parts, and tools for at least 3 years after a product model is discontinued; products $100 or more require 7 years of support

Covered products include televisions, computers, refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, microwaves, and similar household electronics and appliances first sold in Illinois on or after July 1, 2021; video game consoles and alarm systems are excluded

Independent repair shops must provide written notice to customers that they are not authorized repair providers and must disclose use of used or non-manufacturer parts

Manufacturers and authorized repair providers are not liable for damages caused by repairs performed by independent service dealers or product owners

Civil penalties for violations range from $1,000 per day for first offenses to $5,000 per day for third and subsequent violations, enforceable by local governments or the State within a 3-year statute of limitations; effective July 1, 2026
