IL HB2700

Reduces the minimum percentage of municipal hotel tax revenue that DuPage County municipalities must spend on tourism promotion from 75% to 50%

Applies to both the municipal hotel operators' occupation tax and municipal hotel use tax collected by municipalities in DuPage County

Allows municipalities to spend up to 50% (increased from 25%) of hotel tax collections on economic development or capital infrastructure instead of tourism

Only affects municipalities that belong to a DuPage County-based not-for-profit organization certified by the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity as a local tourism and convention bureau

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law; the underlying sections are scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2027
