Expands pension benefit forfeiture for Downstate and Chicago teachers to include convictions for any sex offense under Article 11 of the Criminal Code of 2012 or crimes requiring sex offender registration

Suspends pension benefits during criminal investigations or proceedings for sex offenses; benefits resume if charges are dismissed with prejudice or the person is acquitted

Suspends pension benefits during inspector general investigations into sexual misconduct against students; permanent forfeiture if allegations are substantiated, benefits resume if allegations are found without merit or unsubstantiated

Applies benefit forfeiture regardless of whether the teacher resigned or was terminated from employment

Changes apply only to teachers who first begin teaching on or after the effective date of the act
