IL HB2812

Amends the Medical Patient Rights Act to require all Illinois health care facilities to permit one next of kin of a patient on life support to remain at the patient's bedside regardless of regular visitation hours

Defines "next of kin" as a single person in order of priority: spouse, then parent (if no spouse), then child (if no parent), then sibling (if no child)

Allows health care facilities to implement reasonable policies promoting health, safety, and welfare of the next of kin, patient, employees, and other patients without revoking the bedside visitation right

Applies to patients specifically on life support and creates an exception to existing visitation regulations that allow facilities to restrict visiting hours and visitor numbers
