Hearing aids become exempt from Illinois sales and use taxes beginning January 1, 2026

"Hearing aid" is defined as any wearable, non-disposable, non-experimental instrument or device designed to aid or compensate for impaired human hearing

The exemption includes parts, attachments, and accessories for hearing aids, including ear molds

Batteries and cords for hearing aids are specifically excluded from the tax exemption

The bill amends four tax acts: the Use Tax Act, Service Use Tax Act, Service Occupation Tax Act, and Retailers' Occupation Tax Act
