IL HB3011

Requires each member of a community college district board of trustees to take and subscribe to an oath or affirmation before entering office

The oath includes swearing to support the U.S. Constitution and Illinois Constitution and to faithfully discharge trustee duties to the best of one's ability

The oath may be administered by the board secretary, a notary public, or any other officer authorized under State law to administer oaths

Completed oaths must be filed with the board secretary and made part of the official records of the community college district

Trustees are prohibited from exercising any powers or performing any duties until the oath has been taken and properly filed
