Prohibits individual and group health insurance plans from imposing prior authorization requirements on outpatient services for the prevention, screening, diagnosis, or treatment of mental, emotional, nervous, or substance use disorders or conditions

Amends Section 370c of the Illinois Insurance Code, which governs coverage for mental and emotional disorders

Adds this prior authorization prohibition to existing requirements that already ban prior authorization on FDA-approved medications for substance use disorder treatment and prohibit step therapy requirements for such medications

Applies to health benefit plans amended, delivered, issued, or renewed on or after the effective date of the legislation
