Students participating in school athletic activities may receive up to 2 waivers per school year from their principal or athletic director to participate in nonschool athletic activities in the same sport during the school season without losing eligibility for school sports

Waivers may also apply to "all-star team" events and must be reported by the school to interscholastic athletics associations or entities that regulate athletic competition among schools in Illinois

"Nonschool athletic activity" is defined as organized athletics not sponsored by or associated with a school, including games, competitions, and practices against other teams or entities

The Act applies to public schools, charter schools, school districts, and nonpublic schools, with charter schools explicitly required to comply with the Right to Play Act

"Season" includes the official period during which a school athletic activity is played, including playoff games
