Beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, each Illinois high school must designate at least one staff member as a contact person for FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) compliance matters

The designated staff contact's name and information must be reported annually to the State Board of Education and Illinois Student Assistance Commission

High schools must inform seniors that the designated contact is available to answer questions about FAFSA requirements or provide referrals to appropriate resources

The designated contact must complete an initial orientation upon appointment and is encouraged to participate in annual briefings thereafter

Staff members serving as FAFSA contacts are eligible to receive professional development hours for completing the required orientation and any subsequent annual briefings
