IL HB3097

Requires school districts beginning with the 2025-2026 school year to provide enhanced support to high school students for completing financial aid applications (FAFSA or state aid applications)

Mandates that support must include an opportunity for students to request and receive help during the school day to complete their portion of the financial aid application

Allows high schools to request free assistance from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission for application completion events and individual student help

Permits students to choose whether to use the support or assistance offered by their school district

Maintains the existing graduation requirement that students must either file a FAFSA/state aid application or submit a waiver indicating they understand the applications but chose not to file
