IL HB3220

Requires the Governor to annually issue an official proclamation designating the third Friday of September as POW/MIA Recognition Day, rather than having it automatically designated by statute

Honors men and women who have suffered captivity in foreign countries as prisoners of war while serving in the U.S. armed forces, or who have been recognized as missing in action during war or hostilities

Adds requirement that the Governor's proclamation request a portion of the day be used for solemn contemplation on the plight of POWs and MIAs and the resolve of families seeking a full accounting for missing loved ones

Amends the State Commemorative Dates Act (5 ILCS 490/105)

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law
