IL HB3299

Amends the Illinois Election Code to allow election authorities to serve objections to candidate nominations via electronic mail instead of personal service or registered mail

Election authorities must require candidates to provide an email address for receiving notices of objections and electoral board proceedings as a condition of using electronic service

Objectors must also provide an email address where notices and electoral board proceedings may be sent electronically in lieu of personal service

Election authorities choosing to implement electronic service must publish notice of this decision on their website within 5 business days of the law's effective date

Applies to objections regarding nomination papers, certificates of nomination, and petitions for public questions submitted to referendum
