Increases the maximum number of alternate jurors that may be impanelled in civil cases from 2 to 4

Expands the jury pool draw from 14 names to a range of 14 to 16 names when alternate jurors are required

Each side receives one additional peremptory challenge when alternate jurors are called, regardless of how many alternates are selected

Applies to civil actions commenced or pending on or after January 1, 2026

Amends both the Jury Act (705 ILCS 305/20) and the Code of Civil Procedure (735 ILCS 5/2-1106)
