IL HB3527

Prohibits public educational institutions (K-12 schools, public universities, and community colleges) from adopting or continuing to use mascots, names, or logos that are derogatory or discriminatory toward individuals with disabilities as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act

Allows institutions to continue using existing uniforms and materials bearing prohibited mascots purchased before the effective date until September 1, 2028, provided they select a compliant replacement

Requires institutions using the transition period to immediately stop purchasing new uniforms, yearbooks, newspapers, programs, or other materials featuring the prohibited mascot

Mandates removal of prohibited names, logos, or mascots from school facilities during the next scheduled remodeling or replacement of that area, and prohibits construction of new signage bearing the prohibited imagery
