Health insurance plans amended, delivered, issued, or renewed on or after January 1, 2027 are prohibited from limiting or excluding coverage of any prescription drug an enrollee has been continuously using for 6 months or more

The protection applies when the prescription drug was originally selected by the enrollee's prescribing provider while covered under the current or previous health plan

Applies to group and individual accident and health insurance policies, managed care plans, and Health Maintenance Organizations

Extends coverage requirements to state employees, county and municipal self-insured plans, school district employee insurance, limited health service organizations, voluntary health services plans, and the Medicaid program

The Department of Insurance is responsible for enforcing these requirements, with the Department of Central Management Services enforcing provisions related to state employee health benefits
