Requires all Illinois public elementary and high schools to include a unit of instruction on Italian American history in their curriculum beginning with the 2027-2028 school year

Curriculum must cover the history of Italian Americans in Illinois and the Midwest, contributions to civil rights from the 19th century onward, and achievements in government, arts, humanities, and sciences

State Superintendent of Education may prepare and distribute instructional materials, including Public Broadcasting Service resources, to school boards as guidelines for developing the curriculum

Individual school boards retain authority to determine the minimum instructional time required to satisfy the unit of instruction

Regional superintendents of schools will monitor compliance with the curriculum requirement during annual compliance visits, and schools may fulfill the requirement through online programs or courses
