Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to allow public transit agencies to use electronic rearview monitoring systems (camera-based systems) on their commercial motor vehicles instead of traditional mirrors

The electronic monitoring alternative is only permitted while a federal exemption to mirror requirements under 49 CFR 393.80 from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration remains active

Current law requires all motor vehicles to have mirrors providing drivers a view of at least 200 feet to the rear; this requirement would remain for non-transit agency vehicles
