Bans the sale, offering for sale, or gifting of smoke detectors in Illinois that are not hardwired to building wiring or do not meet specific battery requirements, effective December 31, 2027

Allows Illinois manufacturers to continue producing non-compliant smoke detectors for distribution and sale outside the state

Establishes violations as a petty offense with fines ranging from $500 to $1,000 for selling non-approved smoke detectors

Defines "person" broadly to include individuals, corporations, governments, partnerships, unincorporated associations, and other entities

Amends the existing Smoke Detector Act (425 ILCS 60) by adding Section 3.1 and modifying Section 4
