Expands the definition of "veteran" for property tax homestead exemptions beginning in taxable year 2026 to include veterans who were killed in the line of duty but were not Illinois residents at the time of their death.

Removes the requirement that a surviving spouse must have been an Illinois resident continuously from the veteran's death through the taxable year if the veteran was killed in the line of duty, effective taxable year 2026.

Amends Section 15-169 of the Property Tax Code concerning homestead exemptions for veterans with disabilities and World War II veterans.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
